Basic Land Navigation (BNAV) Course

The Basic Land Navigation (BNAV) course is one of the basic training courses for personnel who have responsibilities to respond to a SAR incident as a field searcher.

This course provides a broad overview of land navigation, use of compasses, pacing and distance determination and very basic topographic map information.
This course is intended for all emergency responders, including police, fire, emergency management, and parks & recreation personnel, who might be involved in a search incident during the normal course of their duties.
Prior SAR training or experience is not required to successfully complete this course.
ICS-100 and ICS-700 are required as prerequisites.
This course is a prerequisite for participants to attend the

Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) course.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and affiliated with an

ISARC member agency to take this course.

There are indoor and outdoor components to this class.

You must complete the entire class in order to receive a certificate.
The class is limited to 24 people.

Training Cost:

The class is free to attend.

However, a $25 registration fee is required at the time of sign-up.

This fee will not be charged to your credit card if you attend the class.

You may cancel your registration up to 48 hours before the class without incurring any charges.

You must send an email to [email protected] in order to cancel your registration.

If you fail to cancel within this period and do not attend,

the $25 fee plus processing charges will be applied.
