Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) Course

The Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) course is considered the basic training course for personnel who have responsibilities to respond to a SAR incident as a field searcher.

This course provides a broad overview of SAR fundamentals, lost person behavior, scope of SAR operations, SAR resources, search techniques, and search crew field operations.

This course is designed to provide the training necessary for emergency management

personnel to function on a SAR mission as specified in the ESDA Administrative Rule.

This course is intended for all emergency responders, including police, fire, emergency management, and park & recreation personnel, who might be involved

in a search incident during the normal course of their duties.

The Basic Land Navigation (BNAV) course is a prerequisite for participants to attend the

Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) course.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, and affiliated with an

ISARC member agency to take this course.

There are indoor and outdoor components, including nighttime activities, in this class.

You must complete the entire class in order to receive a certificate.

The class is limited to 24 people.

Training Cost:

The class is free to attend.

However, a $25 registration fee is required at the time of sign-up.

This fee will not be charged to your credit card if you attend the class.

You may cancel your registration up to 48 hours before the class without incurring any charges.

You must send an email to [email protected] in order to cancel your registration.

If you fail to cancel within this period and do not attend,

the $25 fee plus processing charges will be applied.
