Search and Rescue Management (SARM) Course

The search Management Course provides the technical skills necessary to manage a missing person search. This course is intended for command level law enforcement, emergency management, and SAR personnel who may serve in a search management capacity for their jurisdiction. Course topics include: Search Psychology and behavior, search strategy and tactics, applying ICS to Search Management, resource selection and allocation, public affairs and media management, managing external influence, documentation and litigation issues, and best practices and common mistakes. This interactive course engages the student through individual and group exercises and is presented using a combination of classroom lecture, discussion, video tapes, case studies, and culminates with an interactive, practical tabletop search exercise and test which allows the students to put into practice the skills learned throughout the course. The course material reflects the latest search management thinking, and includes the latest data, theories, and case studies. Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) is a required prerequisite. Two (2) GSAR, ICS-100, 200, 700, 800, 300 and Lost Person Behavior are required for this course.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, and affiliated with an

ISARC member agency to take this course.

You must complete the entire class in order to receive a certificate.

The class is limited to 16 people.

Training Cost:

The class is free to attend.

However, a $25 registration fee is required at the time of sign-up.

This fee will not be charged to your credit card if you attend the class.

ISARC Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class, or failure to attend without notice,

will result in the registration fee and applicable processing fees being charged.

You must cancel 48 hours before the class in order to NOT be charged the

$25 registration fee plus processing charges.
